Robin remains an interesting character in a game with often vastly better options. It's going to be a pain if you want to use them at higher level but luckily for most they work fine online and such. Personally I simply want a better trade-off for having limited resources.

I hate to be that "I'm the best player in my friend group guy", but I doubt there is a single person in the comments section who could last 3 minutes in the ring with my Robin, bad character or not.

I can sum up my reasoning in two words - bronze sword Slow characters can be decent The resources running out sucks but his projectiles are good It’s the fact that your tilts are ass and your aerials run the binary of omega active and strong vs slow weak moves that don’t combo into anything If bronze sword worked like it did in HDR where you got great combo utility from it and could confirm into levin aerials from them it would be great but you essentially HAVE to use levin with the punishment for running out being one of the worst aerial kits in the game

But like i like hiw robin plays despite all thier flaws : (

Unfortunate...Robin was fun for me in Sm4sh. But haven't touched the character in Ultimate...

As a person that uses Robin as a secondary, there is a mechanic on his projectiles they need to get rid of. This mechanic has it programmed to have Robin's projectiles neutralize by an attack. You can start jabbing and you will beat out his projectiles. Samus and other projectile characters don't have that problem which causes Robin to have to play more careful because his projectiles can be snuffed. Besides that, change down tilts angle and make levin sword attacks have no sour spots. It hurts getting sour hit spot with Levin sword when bronze would have done the same.

Robin starts the game with Levin Bronze Sword speeds up recharge ONLY when Levin is depleted Have all three tomes do different KB and kb angle to give players a reason to use them Change Nosferatu for a discard command menu like Hero where Robjn can force a recharge on any of the tomes, applying to Levin too

i think removing his command grab and just making his down B a sword switch would do wonders, also just have the spells slowly regenerate over time, but regenerate faster when completely depleted since your locked out of them anyways. But have levin sword only regenerate charge when bronze sword is at play (or else Robin would be broken)

My best and easy to add buff would to be to start with sword get rid of down b and make it item discard instead. It discards the last special item you used. You get an edge guard up b to ledge and down b to get your book as an item to open up your opponent and to start recharging that book. Hope that makes sense. This would give robin away to use items more and a way to force a recharge to add more to resources management.

It's a shame since Robin's kit is actually really cool and also by far the most unique of the fire emblem characters. I think what Robin needs is something he can set up on stage to help him pressure better and cover more of the stage. Think Link's bombs or snake's mines. Nosferatu's the obvious move to look at since it's the least used of the spells, so that'd be the move I buff/rework. Robin can use it to set a magic crest on the ground, and it lasts for like 20 seconds, and if an opponent steps on it they get hit by nosferatu, dealing damage and healing robin while giving him the opportunity to follow up and combo off of it. Not exactly how nosferatu works in fire emblem, but eh Robin shouldn't be able to use dark magic anyways so Sakurai was unfaithful to the source first anyways. Next, the thunder problem. I'd actually make arcthunder way slower, but also considerably bigger, last much longer as well as have better startup and endlag so it's both a better combo starter at close range as well as a neutral tool at longer ranges where Robin can run behind it. It'll be like a slightly charged hothead that combos. Thoron just needs to be way faster. As for sword moves, he now starts with his levin sword as well as ALL bronze sword attacks boosting his levin sword recharge. His pummel now also uses his bronze sword to benefit from this change too. I don't want to change his movement stats or ground moves since I like those as weaknesses, and fittingly reflects the core series' slower, more tactical gameplay.

I think Robin is ok Down Tilt and forward tilt are safe on shield you can't shield grab it unless you parry it and forward air and back air to side b is also safe down tilt combos into instant dash attack and neutral special is good for movement when you jump cancel it Side b is laggy but also safe on shield and combos into itself to up air for good damage I feel like people just don't play the character I don't agree with the normals on the ground being bad when 2 of them you literally can't shield grab down tilt and forward tilt specifically up tilt is garbage tho but who knows nobody plays Robin all to much fair is safe so is bair up air can combo into itself on plats sometimes I feel like speed is the issue and lack of representation their are so many cooler characters then Robin I see him as a spacey zoner character that is constantly safe. You zone with your projectiles and your safe with down tilt and forward tilt on the ground and you use back air and forward air since their safe only use his safe moves and hit the tip of the sword to. Drop down platform back air and forward air is super good to.

As someone who struggles against Robin, as Rosalina, this video is a little confusing

DownB should have been a counter that recharges durability of something. Similar to ho Revenge works for incineroar. The other option is to turn him into knock-off shulk by giving him "normal" Special for a swordie and his NeutralB changes gives him elemental damage and changes his specials depending on the element

Idk Robin is actually pretty okay, I've seen them get better results than a lot of other mid tiers and low tiers. Angel for example is actually goated, and Leaf is CRAZY, I mean 13th at a supermajor and even beating some goated players like Zackray is nothing to scoff at. I genuinely think Robin can be mid tier with how broken most of their levin sword aerials are.

Characters who are good into Steve and Kazuya specifically but has serious problems against the rest of the meta: Hero, Robin, Shulk Comment below if you have other suggestions

I completely disagree with pikachu’s placement. It is literally baby mode. Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if he was the best mid-level character.

As a Kirby main, I don’t think I have ever seen a tier list with Kirby higher than or at the same level as both Meta Knight and King Dedede.

Tbh I think you underestimate the amount of knowledge a lot of mid level player have (talking about European player base, I don’t know how the situation is in USA). The main problem I see with mid level players is that they usually have a bad mentally so I would put some characters higher just because how annoying to fight they can be for someone that does not have the motivation to develop more as a player. They mostly get stuck at that level because they chose not train while they encounter some sort of mental barrier

I think Dabuz underestimated how much mileage you can get out of just shadow ball. Mewtwo is WAY too low, for this list I’d put him probably around top 40

This is an amazing concept and one that should be made for each smash title going forward tbh. Considering the vast majority of competitive smash players who actively wanna improve are gonna be mid level players, this kind of list is a PERFECT tool for them! It's honestly an amazing roadmap for players who are starting out. They can try literally anyone in S->B+ tier and get a good feel for the character for a few months or so, then look at some more top level tier lists once the meta develops/settles for a bit and decide to stick with their main or dabble in a top tier. ( assuming their early meta main wasn't already a top or high tier character. )
